So you've been put off of having your nails done because a mysterious product ruined your nails?
Your nails have never been the same since that time you thought it was a good idea to impulsively drop in that nail shop without an appointment. It didn't even last that long anyway and now you're scared of that electric file thing your nameless manicurist came at you with.
Maybe you couldn’t get a refill booked in time and took pleasure in prising each individual acrylic nail off with your teeth but are now left with flaky bits and rough edges?
Or maybe you just can't seem to get your nails to good health and feel deserving of a good manicure?
Sounds like you have been having a hard time, my friend.
Here's how to give your nails the break they deserve and once you're back from full recovery mode, you know where to find me...
1. File them short every week for a few weeks.
It will take you 60-90 seconds per hand. Give the nail a chance to grow each week without breaking. Keep each nail length and shape similar to each other. (This is a Pimp Nail free zone)
2. Use a strengthening base coat that actually works.
Not one of those cheap clear-coat-with-no-good-ingredients nail polishes. I swear by OPI Nail Envy. It builds up the protein on your nail and helps to bind the nail layers together again. Effects can be seen after 3-4 weeks. Use it as a base coat under colour if you want. Refresh the coat after 2 weeks as the protein can change colour.
3. Use a nail oil twice a day.
Leave it by your toothbrush and to do this every time you brush your teeth. Get into a habit. Once that bottle goes into your handbag/desk drawer... you ain't ever seeing that thing again.
4. If they're really bad you can use Rescue RXX by CND. (Eg, Nails covered in white marks can be caused by “helping”/pulling product off of the nail plate, too much filing or leaving colour gel on the nail for too long/not having a fresh set after suggested time)
It's a keratin treatment for your nails which needs to be used on its own, without anything else on the nails. It's applied like nail oil, twice a day. Keratin deposits slowly build up on the nail plate, making it stronger as it grows. Effects can be seen after a week of use.
I use the real deal Creative Nail Design products.
I don't over buff your nails before painting.
I don't need to use an electric file to remove Shellac.
